Beyond Photography

Coming soon at LeftBank  . . .

Recently I had the pleasure of meeting Ryan Blackwell and Nastassia Winge from RightNow Studios, an organisation they have set up to represent and provide support for unknown creative talent in the North of England. Over coffee we discussed the ethos' of our respective organisations and the details of their upcoming exhibition, details of which can be found below . . .

BEYOND PHOTOGRAPHY

LEEDS, UK, (15 February 2018) - RightNow Studio invites art lovers and creative minds interested in exploring the world of post photography to its exhibition Beyond Photography, taking place at Left Bank Leeds on 24th February. The event opens at 18.00, and runs until midnight, with food and DJs entertaining the crowds.

RightNow Studio launched this project to provide a space for young artists to showcase their work in the emerging field of post photography. “ Beyond Photography features 15 artists who really challenge the limits of photography today”, explains co-director Ryan Blackwell. “We have fine artists using photography and vice versa, as well as photo sculptures, installation work, fabric printing, and mirror sculptures”, she adds. From the videography of Beth Mellett to the cube works of Grace Kelly, visitors can expect to experience a wide range of art forms in an inspiring and unusual setting.

The event itself pushes the boundaries of the exhibition experience: held in a former church designed in a late gothic revival style, visitors will view the work in a unique space whilst enjoying food from The Horsebox Pizza Company. Four different DJs will be playing from behind the former church altar, and with the space featuring a bar and dance area, Beyond Photograp hy is sure to say goodbye to the stuffy art exhibition stereotype.

Admission to the event is free, and more information can be found on the event’s website http://www.beyondphotography.online/home .
